Ahhhhh-mazing!!! I've gotten a new favourite at the Calgary Farmer's Market! These people are always busy but they move through the lineup fast. They are also super friendly.<br/ <br/ I had the village special this past weekend and it was so huge I had it for lunch and dinner. It comes with a cabbage roll, steamed veggies, perogies or latkes, chicken schnitzel or bratwurst, and sauerkraut. I have to talk about everything!!! <br/ <br/ The cabbage roll is made of meat and rice, and it's the size of a small burrito. It's covered in an absolutely delightful tangy tomato sauce that is full of veggies; carrot, celery, tomato, onion. I'll never be satisfied with plain old tomato sauce on cabbage rolls again. This is perfection. The perogies were cheese and the dough was cooked perfectly, fully cooked but with a nice dense chewy texture and the filing was really tasty. The chicken schnitzel was tender, juicy, not at all greasy. It seems like they just cook everything perfectly. The veggies are a nice touch because let's face it, this is not a light meal. The veggies make it seem like you are eating such a well rounded dish. A great addition. On the side is sauerkraut and a slice of lemon. I've never thought to squeeze lemon on chicken schnitzel before, but I will from now on! The lemon takes the chicken to another level of delicious.<br/ <br/ I can't wait until next weekend! I'm going to try the bratwurst and latkes next!!!
The cabbage roll is my favor. Rich and delicious!!!!the chicken is juicy, not dry at all. Love this place in the farmer market. Staffs are friendly too
This is my favourite place to eat in the farmers market! The prices are very reasonable and everything is delicious. I usually get the pierogies and bratwurst, which comes with sauerkraut (I don't like this in general so I leave it out) and steamed vegetables. The pierogies are fantastic the filling is smooth and creamy with lots of cheese. I liked the bratwurst a lot as well. Sometimes I will also get a cheese blintz with jam and sour cream the crepes are perfectly cooked and the crispy top from frying provides a nice crunch. <br/ <br/ If you like Ukrainian food this is a must try while you're at the market!
OMG we drive to the farmers market just to eat here. Everything we order is amazing, I never knew Ukrainian food was so delish. Love the perogies and my fav is this meat crepe thing (sorry can't remember the name). The owner is so kind and humble definatly a person that deserves all the success.
