Maruju Sushi - Calgary

We have been to Maruju many times, this is one of my favorite sushi place in Calgary! Their sushis are always the freshest. My favorite picks are: special seared salmon toro, special scallop sushi, saba sushi and the Maruju roll. Enjoy!

I've been coming to Maruju for years and their quality and freshness is consistent. I've introduced friends to Maruju who are self proclaimed sushi connoisseurs from Vancouver (if that makes any difference) and they are impressed. Restaurant space is small but it has that local neighborhood restaurant feel. For the price and quality of their dishes, it's worth trying over the more expensive sushi restaurants with same quality.

I go to this restaurant all the time. I love their rolls like Godzilla rolls or Heart rolls. They are fresh with a really delicious sauce. I also love the shrimp dumplings with aioli sauce. Their lunch specials are really good value.

There's no place that makes a better Salmon Skin sushi than Maruju. The salmon skin comes out piping hot and crispy. Our other family favorite there is the Pork Bone soup Ramen with Chasui. The soup is super rich and flavorful. The Chasui (Japanese BBQ pork) melts in your mouth. It is definitely one of our family favorites.

We waited a couple hours for sushi as most places re-open at 5. We have usually gone somewhere else but decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately the sushi rolls we ordered were too small and simple. The fish was from a package like sand which meat and did not look or taste good. Most of the rolls only had fish and rice with no veggie pieces or anything else in it! The service was friendly and somewhat timely but we will not be returning here again.
