But the staff seemed more interested with chatting with each other than looking after their customers. Our food took a long time to come. Then when we asked for our bill that took over 10 minutes to get to us.The food was not too bad. I had the rice bowl, my husband had the fish 'n chips. He said his food was extremely salty. So No we won't be back! It was also not a clean place to eat. I noticed that apply plates were kept by the floor. Ugh! Again No, will not go back.
Picture this....an empty restaurant and patio. We come in with 12 people looking to have some appies and a few beers on the patio...now enter dumb policy....no large groups or putting tables together on patio...we exit. Just happened 2 Friday's ago. Must be nice to throw away business like that. Did I mentioned the place was empty?
OJs in Avenida is located very close to where we live and we try it every once in a while hoping that it becomes the place that we would want to hang out at. It has been a couple of years, so we decided to give it a try, although I was a little worried about crowds and noise seeing that it was a playoff hockey night and Calgary, for a brief moment in time, was in the playoffs. So, on a midweek early evening, we arrived to find the place almost empty (there were like 4 other tables taken). We ordered our beers ($5.50 each, not bad pricing) and looked over the menu. They had New Orleans style beignets for dessert that really struck our fancy. But, big roadblock: my wife is highly allergic to shellfish and they served fried calamari. So, we had to ask and were told that the kitchen had only one fryer. This meant that everything fried (potatoes and beignets) were out of bounds for her. It also meant that less than a handful of menu choices were available to her, a real bummer for the two of us.So, she ordered a bruschetta and I had what is called drunken chicken noodles. Both were good, but nothing to rave about. The lack of menu options for my wife means that this is not a place we will be coming back to for another couple of years, if at all.Service was ok.Our toatl bill, excluding tip, for 2 beers and the two meals was $37.
Cannot find the location just north of Heritage on Trip Advisor, however that is where we went. It was for my fiancée's birthday and we had a blast. The food was great, the server was awesome and the evening went off without a hitch.I had Mahi-Mahi Tacos and they were fantastic. The side Caesar Salad was small, but delicious and my fiancée had Fish and Chips (the Haddock was excellent). We began with the Truffle Parmesan Crisps and they were awesome. For North American food, you simply cannot go wrong!
I have nothing bad to say about this location. This is where I took my Fiance on our first date and we go back to celebrate every year.Very friendly staff even during the busy hours and the food is always amazing. Would go back every time!!!
