I ordered vermicelli with shrimp and spring rolls, while my friend ordered vermicelli with spring rolls and the wonton soup was excellent. I highly recommend this place for a family gathering, and if you are looking for a Vietnamese cuisine restaurant, this place will not disappoint. I guarantee it.
We all ordered #64 - Hu Tieu Mi Sate Bo - which is spicy beef sate ($11) at Song Viet. They were generous with the basil and sprouts, and all the condiments, like the vegetables and lime, were fresh and clean. The bowl may not have been large, but there was plenty of beef and noodles to fill us up. Even with my big appetite, I was full. What sets this bowl apart is that the noodles are fresh and not dried, as Song Viet buys them daily. The sate is peanutty and spicy, but not so hot that it causes coughing and sputtering.
The pho at this restaurant is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. The spicy satay dishes were also very good. I would definitely return again. The server was extremely friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant, especially on a Sunday.
Yum!. I love this place. The satay beef soup and the pho is excellent. Price is good for a take out and they package it cleverly so it isnt mushy when you get back to your desk. Good choice for lunch if you work near Chinatown.
I have been a customer at Song Viet for many many years now and I can say that hands-down they have the best satay soup in the city. <br/ <br/ They have a very unusual broth that is thick and has a very strong coconut and peanut taste. <br/ <br/ Absolutely the best satay beef, satay chicken, and seafood satay soups I've ever tried!
