When we saw the building, it lacked ambiance, but we were there for the food, we were not disappointed. The food is delicious,...the portions, generous and the service quick and friendly. We have gone back several times, and each time have truly enjoyed our meal. Great food, they do a lot of take out, because truly it really is a hole in the wall. But one with excellent food!
The only thing ordinary about this restaurant is its appearance. Mike, the host/cashier, called it a Hole-in-the-Wall himself. True! Very plain and few tables--mostly take-out. But it was one block from our rental apartment, so after a long day 's flying, we walked and were treated...to a divine dinner for a very reasonable price. Portions are large, but I finished my lamb korma. I make a chicken korma at home with grocery store spices that pale by comparison to theirs. My companion had chicken tikka masala that gave us leftovers for 2 days. No need for dessert! Mike was so kind and helpful and being able to see the cooks in the kitchen was a treat. Mike pointed out the clay oven where they bake the BEST naan bread in the city, maybe the country! Other diners told us their food is the best in the city for a decent price. You won 't be disappointed if you eat here!
This restaurant is a gem. Mike at the front is personable and is more than willing to make suggestions to help you. The food has always been good and I keep coming back usually for take out. The Goan fish curry is a favourite of...mine and I dream about it. Their lunch special is very good value as well and I eat in for that, it’s four different curries a salad, rice and fresh baked bread, quite filling and inexpensive. Give it a try, I expect that you will be back.
I really like this restaurant but today I was really unsatisfied with the food. I ordered Shahi paneer with tandoori routes. When my dish came the gravey for shahi paneer was very thin almost like water, and paneer cubes were not cooked with the gravy....They were added on the top with cream, really disappointed with them, it killled all of my expirence today.
Great eating a service, we love Indian eating and this restaurant is definitiw with the best of them! a visit worth when they are in the city calgary!
