The waiting staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. As my wife is Coeliac we were glad to see that all food was prepared on the premises so we had no problem with meal adaptations to Gluten free, the prep may have taken a bit longer but it was worth it! The food was tasty and very well presented and the drinks menu was good. It was nice to people watch on a busy weekday evening, if we ever visit Calgary again it's high on our list for a revisit.
My wife and I had dinner at the B on a Friday evening. We chose the tasting option with wine accompaniment and we were very happy with our choice. The first course was oysters followed by steak tartare, salad, asparagus, steelhead trout over risotto, and tenderloin filet. Desert was flan. Each course was really very good from the central feature down to the little things (beetroot crisps for the steak tartare). The risotto was excellent as well. The wine selections were well matched to the meal. We particularly enjoyed champagne with the oysters and an inky Atalon Cab with the fillet. Service was friendly, informative and attentive. Definitely a fine dining experience.
Very good, friendly service and outstanding food. The plating was excellent and the dishes were well-crafted with many nice layers of flavour. One of the best we've dined at in Calgary.
We dined early; only one other table when we were seated. Good attention by manager and server. We were in no rush, and enjoyed a drink before considering the meal. As more diners arrived, we became ignored. The restaurant was never really busy, but we continually had to flag down the server for attention. Our finished salad plates sat for 15 minutes before being cleared. Server under-trained - she served and cleared dishes by reaching in front of the other diner. More training and more awareness of progress of meal. Good servers anticipate needs; more water, another drink, food quality check, dessert, coffee .... There was none of that.
We were served by Caroline, she was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I strongly recommend the 7 dinner course with wine pairing.
