Anyway, my friend and I love to order French when we are in a lounge. I think we had high expectations with wellington's call. very disappointing! general quantities of cut bark meat lukewarm to cool, no seasoned, stacked on (probably brioche) a hamburger bunge. only meat and rolls, nothing but jus or gravy. we ordered au jus, but seemed really like tasteless gravure. our sides were salat. I told the server, it was quite "boring" when they returned to our table. she seemed unimpressed from this moment. I never offered any suggestions. I called her back a few minutes later and we asked some grilled tweepers and rides that brought her pretty fast. that has improved the taste. server told us we should have ordered philly cheese steak if we wanted extras. have not seen it in the menu! Anyway, they stay away from french di don't know how the lounge food is generally as I could 't find any reviews.
We come every year to wellington's birthday (and sometimes to other events) and have never been disappointed. the service is always top notch, they do tableside caesar salat (dairy free and gluten-free people can eat it,) their steaks and seafood are...always amazing. for those who like cherry jubilee, they also do this tableside. Love Love Love Love Love Wellingtons!
We were in wellingtons many times. I would still rate it as one of the best steak houses in calgary. these night we were two couples. the service was friendly and attentive. the atmosphere calm and not crowded. two of us...had the creole shrimp appetizer special, which was delicious. the escargot was great, but a diner expected his calamari to be crispy. our delicate steaks were as expected perfect and very delicate. the mushrooms could have been looked for much longer. a diner had the salmon wellington. the presentation was beautiful and the court excellent with a huge piece of fish. the crème Brûlée was delicious, like the ingenious chocolate cake. we had a bottle of masi amarone costersa with dinner. an excellent choice, we'll be back.
Our server was arrogant and impatient: 1. hurry to ask for appetizers and dinners, practically grab menus from our hands while we order the food. 2. we wanted to ask for something butter for our brot and before we could ask his approach...what: what do they want now? in a don't-bother-me ton. 3. we asked for a few extra tellers so that we could share dessert on which his answer I was child not: you must be kidding me, but if you want that. it was sad and insulting, but so about the top it was almost weird.
I took my date to Wellington's. We ordered a good California Chardonnay. For appetizers I had the steak tartare and my date had shrimp cocktail. She had a prime rib for her main meal and I had a filet. The restaurant prepares their steaks to...perfection. The food was delicious. The server was very helpful and friendly.
