Recent takeaway when family came to visit. 6 meals ordered including curry, sweet sour, Cantonese chicken, duck, prawns veg, noodles and all were delicious. Fried rice was great, flavoursome but not at all greasy. Everyone demolished their meals, happy all round!
We arrived late in the evening and Swan's was suggested by our B&B host. The food was very good, the decor is very basic, service was adequate. It was a good choice for a good meal at that moment.
At our inkeeper's suggestion we ate an early meal at Swan's, and came away both satisfied and impressed. Hot Sour soup, our benchmark for Chinese restaurants, was very different from that available in the States, and was an enjoyable blend of both elements of the name. Good. Prawns in garlic sauce, with communal steamed rice, was extremely tasty, properly seasoned, and more than filling. The custom-created beef, chicken prawns in black bean sauce, also with steamed rice, was wonderful. Thanks for eliminating a tough decision by offering to bring all three into the same dish at no extra charge. Apparently these are new owners/operators. The building once held a B B, and this was the in-house restaurant. The upstairs dining room is pleasant, tastefully decorated, and carpeted. Lots of takeaway being done on the ground floor, but that does not interfere with the sit-down component of the restaurant.
We had takeout from this restaurant on a couple of occasions and it is good food, reasonably priced. Although we didn’t dine in, the tables looked well presented and we would recommend this establishment.
