Efes - Cambridge

Wow what a find this restaurant was. The food is superb. All the food is cooked on a charcoal grill at the rear of the restaurant. It is well cooked and presented. It tastes delicious. Staff are very welcoming and the service is very good. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended and a place I can't wait to go back to.

We ordered a bottle of Turkish wine which was to our liking - it was mild and not too dry. The meze starters were delicious, although we felt there was not enough bread provided and some of the meze lacked flavor. Our main course arrived with cold rice and sauce, which was disappointing, but the meat was cooked perfectly and tender. However, we found the dish to be lacking spices and the traditional Turkish flavors we were expecting. There were three staff members serving customers and tending to the bar, but when it got busy, they struggled to give enough attention to everyone. When we asked for the bill, we had to raise our hand to get noticed and pay. Another downside was the Turkish tea being made with an electric kettle and a tea bag, giving the impression of lackluster authenticity.

We were very lucky to find this. We decided to explore Cambridge and try somewhere we found on our travels. We couldn't have asked for more! The service, ambience and food were great and the Turkish wine was a real discovery.
