French Creek Marine Pub - Canada

What's happened to the F.C. Marine Pub's Chowder Bowl?? Okay......I am a self-proclaimed Seafood Chowder snob and have eaten many bowls of chowder on the West Coast. What would you expect to get at a "Marine" pub when you order a Bowl of Seafood Chowder? Firstly, it should be hearty, hot and Huge with Heaps of seafood goodies hiding in the Huge Bowl. This is a Sailor's hang-out?? Brutus and Pop-eye would starve on these bowls.When my $8.95 "Bowl" came, I did a double take at the petite cup and sad little biscuit. The biscuit was gone in two bites and the chowder was maybe 8 tblspoons. They had the nerve to advertise a "cup" order as well??.....besides the "bowl"?? What kind of cups could these possibly be??? 28 -AAA cups?? How was the Chowder?...it was good....not the best I've had. Please get rid of these crappy little bowls and serve your good chowder in a real Bowl that West Coasters expect and deserve.And maybe a couple of big honkin' slices of fresh Sourdough bread to keep it honest. You will lose folks if you continue to serve chowder in these hobbit cups and mini-biscuits.....remember, this isn't Paris, France..this is Canada West Coast - Loggers, Tug Boat Dudes, Fishermen...Skoogum Guys that want their bellies full of good hot Chowder...

I would advise not bothering to go here unless you are a local. I've read some other positive reviews and I'm quite surprised. We stopped in on our way to the fresh seafood store at French Creek for lunch. The 'famous' fish chowder was a let down. The broth had decent flavour but had split. The 'fresh' seafood was undoubtedly frozen and the 'fresh crab' was pollock. The biscuits were ok. We also had some chicken wings that were ok. Dirty cutlery needed to be replaced. Our server was pleasant and prompt. An off day? Maybe. We won't bother going back.

My wife and I stopped her for lunch after a short stay in qualicum, we each had a burger, mine was the Bluecheese and Bacon, my wife's was the House Burger. Both were amazing, juicy and cooked to perfection with crisp fresh vegetables and yummy sides, definitely will be stopping here again if in the area! Sorry I forgot to take pics of the lunch.

My husband and I went there tonight and there was a little mix up in my meal order nothing I can truly complain about as they were so professional, so apologetic, they rectified everything immediately, plus complementary drinks.The meal was absolutely delicious,truly amazing, the chips were fresh cut,my lobster mac n cheese was so spectacular, the portion sizes are outrageous, definitely reasonably priced and the view is stunning. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone, the chef and team are spot on ace, good job French creek pub keep it up.thank you for a wonderful dinner.

The food is good -- generous in portion and fair priced. Location is pretty good -- patio with a view (but can be obscured by cars), afternoon is better because sun is around. Good for a hearty meal and pint. Prices are excellent. Worth a visit. Service is good.
