It 's not easy to find this place, it 's nestled into a shopping strip with only a doorway and a sign. We would have walked right past it except there were a couple of tables and chairs out the front that signaled that there was a cafe here. You walk down a narrow hallway to the cafe itself. It is a very 'girly ' place with lots of beautiful china on display they do lots of high teas apparently. We both ordered eggs benedict, one with gluten free toast. My only gripe was that it took a really long time to get our food, and as the place didn 't seem that busy, I don 't know why that was, but it was tasty.
Wonderful high tea experience. This is my first high tea experience and Cafe Societea has really made this experience special.<br/ One would not expect such a gem from the outside of the small suburban shopping centre. The owners created such a unexpected wonderful atmosphere in a small alley between other shops. The tables are beautifully decorated in traditional English afternoon tea setting with all Royal Doulton tea sets and cutleries (and they are all made in England! . The food was delicious and beautifully presented with mixture of savoury and sweets.<br/ <br/ The service from the owners was 5 star.<br/ <br/ It's a unforgettable experience. I didn't expect something special like this exist in Canberra
A Charming Place. What a delightful little cafe tucked in at the Griffith Shops. I have been there twice now for high tea and will definitely go again. Janette is a wonderful host eager to please and nothing is too much trouble. The decor is great, the food was fantastic and plenty of it. We were each served a 3 tiered delight with both savoury and sweet choices. Ample drinks are included but bookings are essential because it is very popular. Doggie bags are provided but we didn't need to partake because we ate the lot!
A lovely experience, a unique place, operated by truly kind and generous people! Canberra's heart is here.
