Ive stayed several times before and the buffet was great but not this time. The pastries were soggy...obviously not fresh ,the scrambled eggs were like foam rubber and as for the coffee, dish water would have been preferable. On the brighter side when I complained at reception they credited without hesitation They would be better serving an a la carte breafast and forget the buffet
Arrived and seated ourselves at a table but were quickly told that all seats were booked. No reserve signs on any table. Were taken downstairs to sit in a semi dark area. The downstairs bar was closed so had to go upstairs to purchase drinks. Later we were advised that a table had been found for us. Ordered quickly and 2 meals arrived within 10 minutes, the other 3 meals arrived another 20 mins later. One staff member bent over backwards to help us but will not return as empty dishes were left on the table far to long.
My family and I (group of 23) booked the NYE package at the Rex Hotel and it was one of our worst experiences. The quality and quantity of the food was not worth $95 per head. The waitressing staff did not attend to our table unless called for and none of the plates were cleared from the table till requested. To make it worse all the waitressing staff were rude, which worsened the experience. The meals were bland and looked as they were from the frozen isle from coles. Will not be going there again.
We were staying there at the Rex, and decided to have dinner there. Meal was excellent, I had the fish and chips, it was good value and you had a very good serving. I cannot remember what my husband had and he said his steak was done to perfection. We didn't have dessert as we were too full. Had N.Z apple cider and that was very nice.
