Polit Bar - Canberra's Lounge

When I was visiting we stopped by this place for Tranny Trivia-it was fabulous! Delicious cocktails, campy songs and dirty innuendo from the host, great for a night out! Small with loads of character. Cocktails galore but their martinis are exceptional. Run by a fabulous woman who wear high heels (I don't know how she does it). Always packed with interesting people and a great late night venue in the heart of Manuka.

This was in the top 10 of Canberra’s cool bars so we decided to give it a try. Not the best choice for an early, quiet Friday night drink. It was ruined by the ramped up bass level of the music from the pub downstairs, which was also competing with a poor choice of music (sounded like the bar staff’s favourite radio, rather than music selected for the bar’s ambience) from the bar itself. Bar service slow even with hardly anyone in the place and the décor was confusing and inconsistent.

Blink and you will miss this cocktail bar. The decor was very reminiscent of the 70's with gold chain and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Cute little private lounge areas that still allowed you to interact with staff and patrons. Karaoke with Jonno is every second Wednesday night. The cocktails were unique and very well made, my suggestion would be the Mojito or the Turkish Delight.

Enjoyed the atmosphere of a live band and local beer. Ordered a tasting platter and pizza. Platter was very good and used it to enhance a very ordinary pizza. Their kerb side tables were enhanced with potted hedges that made it feel very pleasant.
