Contribuisci feedbackTu Do is Canberra's oldest Vietnamese restaurant and may well be the best. It's a small BYO shopfront in the O'Connor shops in Canberra's inner north. The food is just fantastic - varied dishes, fresh, authentic food matched with good service. There is a bottle shop in the shopping centre but it closes early so best to take drinks to accompany your meal with you. I will definitely eat at Tu Do again.
Sorry to say, the service received was very average. The food was crummy, and didn't come close to other small Vietnamese restaurants canberra has to offer (for better prices too). Will not be returning and would not recommend.
We only come here for Pho as we tried other dishes, but were not impressed, with the exception of the pan fried chicken wings, which are crispy and rightly seasoned accompanied by a fish sauce and chilli sauce mixture as dipping sauce. The Pho for us is excellent with high quality beef and tasty beef balls. However, quite frankly we are not experienced Pho eaters so can't really compare with many others, but compared to one or two others, this Pho is far better.
Unfortunately very overrated, which is a big disappointment as Canberra is crying out for more good Vietnamese. The food is often over seasoned, over cooked and not congruent with the menu description. If you must go, skip the traditional Vietnamese dishes which are a far cry from authentic and stay in the vicinity of the peanut beef and satay chicken which offer some relief amongst an underwhelming selection.
So average. The food was eh, the spring rolls were seriously disappointing, didn't taste fresh at all. I had a Hot and Sour soup which was super sweet. And the only waitress was rude which is always a bummer. I won't bother again, Dickson is so close.
