Chedraui Selecto - Cancún

Usually I visit Chedraui Selecto in person, but about a month ago I tried their online services which allows you to pick up your order or have it delivered for about $8 USD. This is great if you do not know how to use the...bus in Cancun, or have a long term stay at an non all inclusive resort. My favorite items are the triple chocolate muffins and their fresh cherries. I would highly recommend their bakery, but be cautious on overnight deliveries because the bread can go bad. All-in-all though pricey, great selection of all natural and organic foods. Their meats also often lack antibiotics, hormones or steroids. Especially, the Pilgrim's brand of chicken products. You can also purchase a new souvenir Chedraui mesh bag for very cheap in person.

The choice for groceries is this Selecto or Walmart. This Selecto is in the hotel zone so we picked it. The Walmart is further into the city of Cancun. We took a taxi to and from here. 220 pesos each way from Royal Sands hotel....(Ie: $11 USD) The good is that they have a great variety of groceries at a good price. Several workers speak English, but not many. When I ordered food from the restaurant it was difficult to understand my choices of flavors because the cashier did not speak English. And yes, they do have a travel agent at the exit ask for your receipt and he tries to sell you an excursion. Just avoid that. There are taxis at the exit and the security guard will call for a taxi for you. Not sure if I would return or try Walmart. If I spoke a little Spanish then I would definitely return....

Loved the upstairs self serve restaurant. Buy a bottle of wine and have it opened, choose a steak or salmon fillet and have it cooked. The pizza and ceviche were tasty and was able to wash it down with beer. Finished my shopping and caught...a cab back to my hotel. Super simple evening out.

Went to the supermarket today, the total cost of my items were about 64 pesos, I gave her 200 pesos in total. The cashier only returned 120 pesos and did not return rest of the change back and pretend that’s all the changes. Not until...I stood there for about 3 minutes with my hand out (because I do not speak Spanish) indicating that I did not receive all my changes. Not to speak the cashier did not return all the changes the second time as well. The fact that I am being fooled is so annoying. Be sure to always check your total and changes!!

Chedraui has a little everything like a supermarket. there is also hot food, but depending on the daytime, they may have to wait one. if they are in the hotel zone and they want to cook or snacks and drinks, they can check chedraui. Yes, they accept credit cards. they bring their own pocket because they run out of bags. but you can buy a bad one inside. oh pan dulce especially on tomorrow is really good.
