We had 4 different meals at Cafe Pico. They where all excellent the Plat du Jour was really great. Olivier the chef spoke good English and with my limited French explained the dish and the ingredients. My wife enjoyed the vegetarian food. The prices are...very reasonable. Can't recommend enough. Will be back next year.
They sell un-frozen baguette (no choice for 1,50€ !!! And the taste is absolutely not good. If you can walk 5 min more to Aux délices sucrés (4 bd du Midi and you will find fresh good bread at acceptable price (0.98€ .
We have just returned from Cannes and stayed opposite Café Pico. We started just ordering our bread from here and quickly made friends with Olivier the owner and his wife. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and we ended up...eating our last few meals here. The food was absolutely delicious. The best we have had in Cannes. Olivier couldn't have been more helpful asking what we liked and going out of his way to prepare dishes for us. The atmosphere is great, very welcoming and friendly. When we are next in Cannes we will definitely be eating here a lot more.
We have rented a flat near Pico's Cafe the past several years, and often topped in for coffee, a snack or lunch. Olivier and his staff are amazingly friendly, efficient, and have a more bountiful selection than one would think on first observation. The prices...are very reasonable for the quality offered and everything is fresh. There also is a nice outdoor section in the front of the cafe. Each day a full plat du jour is offered as well as many sandwiches, salads, pastries etc. The cafe is along a busy thorough fare between Cannes and La Bocca. Ir is about two blocks from the sea and near an international language school. You often will see students from the school in the cafe as well as an interesting group of locals.BTW Olivier speaks fluent English, has spent time in LA, and enjoys interacting with his clientele. The only down side is that parking is a bit of a problem, but there are several municipal lots about two blocks away as well a a very few parking places in front of the Cafe. If you are looking for good basic food, nice service and a friendly atmosphere, you really can not beat Pico's. Also although this may soon be a thing of the past with the prevalence of smart phones, there is free wifi hook up in the cafe.
