The restaurant was full, so we and other guests were directed to the bar and were told we would be called when our table was ready, but were assured that we would still be served. The two servers were extremely gracious, not only in their service but also in not seeming to mind that they would be home late. Some menu items were no longer available, but the menu selection was still more than satisfactory. Our meals were excellently prepared and presented, with good home-style cooking and hospitality. We are thankful to the dining room staff for taking such good care of us, even though we were not staying at the property.
Casual dining with a rather large selection. The Haddock at $19 was delicious. Service was friendly.
For the past 24 years my husband and I have been visiting Newfoundland every July and this is always our first stop right off the ferry. Breakfast is good. Quick service with a smile. The waitress even remembers us! Sometimes it is also our last stop before the ferry going back home. Once we were lucky enough to hear live music coming from another room. Can't wait to come back. Good traditional food.
Not exactly average but closer to poor. Few in the restaurant and it about 6 pm. Caters to a lot of regular customers. Certainly not as pictured in their web site. We ordered some honey garlic ribs and also tried some moose with strips of peppers and onions. The ribs were almost bland and not as tender as they could have been. We asked for some additional vegetables for the moose dish, but was quite disappointed. They were not fresh but either canned or had been frozen. The moose definitely has a decided taste, quite pleasant really but what appeared on the plate was more stew like over a bed of rice, guess we expected something more like a stir fry. Disappointed in both meals. You pay the bill at the hotel lobby reception desk. On the plus side they do have three gorgeous quilts outside the restaurant.
When staying at hotel, I only ask for a quiet and clean room, privacy, and a good rest. While sleeping the day after a night shift on, although the DO NOT DISTURB sign was prominently placed on the door, I was featured 3 seperate times by the house keeping staff knocking on the door. The resultant hour are hilarious! Closed from 1:30pm-5pm. When booking, we were told the hours were 8am-8pm. The staff wasn't the friendliest or the most knowledgeable of the area either when asking for recommendations.
