This coffee shop has the potential to be a fantastic addition to the community, but it falls short in terms of customer service. The owner comes across as unfriendly, moody, and disengaged, which is not the best way to attract customers. Prices are on the higher side, but the promotion of £1 coffee on the last Friday of each month is a smart marketing move. The deli and seating area at the back are pleasant and enjoyable. A smile is free, and a simple morning greeting goes a long way. I strongly encourage the owners and staff to improve their interactions with customers. Unfortunately, I've decided not to return to this shop, which is disappointing, as I would prefer to support local businesses over commercial chains.
Firstly it is extremely overpriced. I understand you are using quality products but the prices are too extreme. Even more expensive than London prices. Anything over £5 for a (basic) cheese toastie is not justifable. However, apart from this, the staff are beyond rude and it appears to be not just with myself reading the reviews. I don't understand why such rude people would take a job that involves customer service. Everything I need to say has been said in reviews before. It makes you wonder what their problem is if they are being so rude to every customer? It's a shame because it has the potential to be a lovely little cafe but there's a huge amount letting it down, mainly the staff.
This cafe is located so conveniently for nearby workers who do not wish to head into Cardiff town for a bite to eat or cup of coffee. Unfortunately, two members of staff who work in the shop are extremely rude. Whilst I am simply only spending a few minutes to collect a take away hot drink, it has reached a point where I feel uncomfortable even going in the shop. There are two main members of staff who have been in the shop for many years who are the problem. I never expect people to be overly nice or gushing (we are all human), but it is not a case of this. These two members of staff are overtly rude and I (and others) even question whether they are attempting to cause the owner to lose custom. One example (which has happened on more than one occasion), I have entered the cafe and there has been no customers. The two members of staff have been facing the shop entrance and have intentionally turned their backs to me and continued their conversation. I have then waited several minutes for them to turn around. A second example, (which has happened to my friend in front of me) the manageress has turned to her colleague and made a snide remark when making our drinks. A third example is that when you are finally served they wait in silence for you to order, and have in fact snatched money out of my hand. I should say that I absolutely never write reviews (partially because I cannot be bothered and partially because I understand that we are all human and have bad days). However, I do find the staff behaviour and attitude astonishing to the point that I cannot believe it is actually happening! It's almost like a prank. I truly think that it is such a shame and I am only writing this as I know so many people who have bad things to say about the staff. I do wonder why the staff are like this though? Surely there must be a reason...as it is not just a case of them not being bothered. They are actively and intentionally acting in this way. Perhaps they are not happy with the way management runs things? I do not know...but I do think there must be more going on. Advice to Management: Please sort this out it is actually upsetting when they act in this way. So many people in the area have stopped going to this coffee shop because of their behaviour, but I have continued to go as it is so much easier. But now I won't be as it is actually offensive.
