Overseas - Carlsbad

In my opinion, this is the best sit-down Chinese restaurant in North County. They offer a wide variety of dishes, and I have about a dozen favorites, which makes it tough to decide each time. I find myself going there about once a week!

My family has been dining at this restaurant for years. The food is delicious, and the service is both friendly and attentive. I highly recommend it!

Overseas Restaurant is located on the outskirts of Carlsbad Village and features a spacious, comfortable, and traditionally decorated environment. We visited on a weekday after 7:00 PM and were seated promptly. The owner was very friendly and enthusiastic. While there were many diners, very few appeared to be Asian, which suggests it leans more towards a traditional Cantonese-style Chinese restaurant. However, the menu features dishes from virtually every major cuisine in China. The owner recommended the twice-boiled pig, a marquee Sichuan dish, but every flavor in that dish was off, despite it having a pleasant aroma. Additionally, a fried water spinach dish that the owner suggested was rather bland. Generally, when a menu offers a wide variety of Chinese dishes, it's not a good sign—it's like a restaurant trying to serve French, Italian, German, and Russian cuisine all at once. I am happy to meet my new home communities. And Overseas Reataurant was well represented! When the waiter came to give us the bill, he put it on the table and during the diffraction wished us luck. Great food, great company Fortunes a lot! TY O.R. I appreciate it!!

We've been here a few times before and enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, this time the sauce on the Mongolian beef was burned. They graciously replaced it with a much better tasting Broccoli beef dish. We will definitely return.
