Pollos Maria - Carlsbad

Pros: Friendly helpful staff, clean bathrooms, light fish tacos, fresh, nice outdoor seating with fire pit, parking behind building.

Not sure why this restaurant is so popular, but the food is very overpriced and the chicken was so dry we could barely eat it! Not a comfortable, friendly, or clean place either. Don't waste your money and risk choking on the dry chicken! Even Taco Bell is better than this.

Poor quality food; cleanliness in question. Lot's of better choices for Mexican food in and around Carlsbad.

Pollos Maria has changed. Yes, they were open during Covid, which was really great because none of the restaurants in Carlsbad served food. I have lived in the Carlsbad region since 1990 and have since gone to Pollos Maria. Last year they have really changed that they lost magic, they increase prices, and they offer zero service, except to take your money and eat before you. It's a shame back here?s another restaurant that is once great that not class more especially because no one has a clue what service is more.

We found this jewel while we were looking for Mexican restaurant near us and Pollos Maria was suggested. We found a place to park in front. There were two parties eating outside and three people waiting for their order numbers to be called. Our order was finished in less than ten minutes. They had a complete kitchen staff. We have noticed that you can also order for pickup in advance. You have a huge menu selection. We apent $20.11 and decided on the 5 rolled roast chicken tacos prepared with freshly cooked chicken, guacamole, shredded cheese and salad. We also had a #11 with an enchilada ( chickens with green sauce), a beef sauce (herbal dish) with shredded salad and cheese, rice and beans (fried). You could get the beans instead of fried. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. Perfectly seasoned, not overgrown. Crispy Tacos were exceptionally not oily or greasy. The #11 was wonderful, the chicken enchilada was filled with piping hot, tasteful chicken. The fried beans were creamy and savory. The rice was light and fluffy. We ate everything on our records and felt completely satisfied. We would definitely be happy again for more good food in a household.
