However, they maintain how Indian cuisine should taste like even though you are at some western countries. The spiciness, freshness, and quality of cuisines they serve are absolutely fantastic. The owner is very friendly and humble. He takes order and serves his customers as well. Try this place if you ever crave some authentic Indian Cuisines.
Dined in on the 14th Feb. The restaurant was about 40% full and has nice clean decor. We ordered Samosa & Onion Fritters for starters which were ok and not too oily. However, be careful with the Samosas as they are very spicy. They also only supplied one sauce, which was also spicy. For mains we had Butter Chicken, Malabar Prawn Curry, naan bread, rice & raitha. All the food was fine and service was ok and fairly fast. However, beware that the mains serving sizes are fairly small. Also you need to be specific when ordering things like bread and rice. We assumed, because there were 2 of us, that they'd bring enough rice & bread for 2 people, but they just brought out a 'single' serve of rice and one naan bread. Prices were average Indian prices at around $14-15 per main. I wouldn't make this restaurant my new 'favourite', but they were average to fair...
I gave one star, if I could give less I would. 3 times I've ordered take away from Indus, all on a Saturday night. The last time will be the last, and I'll explain why. Every Saturday I've gone to pick up the take away the restaurant has been empty, and that's a giant danger sign, there's always a reason for it, and it's always bad. The first two experiences were neutral and I only again out of convenience. I placed my order over the phone. The restaurants phone has been broken each time I've called and they can't hear your properly. They've failed to fix this. Twice they've called me back on a mobile phone. But not on this last visit. When I placed my order I repeated "enough rice for 5 people" 3 times and got the reply "yes". Placed my order at exact 715pm and got told it would be 15 to 20 minutes. Arrived to pick up 25 minutes after the call and was told to sit down and wait, which was surprising seeing as the place was empty again, only three tables of two people and every other table bare. So I paid the bill (my mistake) and took a seat. At 758pm my order was brought to me and I checked it to find there was no rice, apparently they didn't hear on the phone and it wasn't on my order. Order back to the kitchen to get some, and back to me again at 806pm. Then to my surprise the lady serving has the audacity to ring the rice up on the till and ask me for $15 for it. I explained I'd been waiting for this order now for far longer than I should have, they forgot the rice and kept me waiting, their phone is and issue as usual, which they've failed to fix even through they know it doesn't work, and that charging me for the extra wait for what equates to a dollars worth of rice was down right rude. She says bad luck so I paid. She actually didn't seem to understand at all the meaning behind what I was saying with regard to poor service, which is disturbing. I then asked for the manager, apparently he wasn't there (on a Saturday night at 7 to 8pm) so the next best thing came out of the kitchen and I explained all of the above to him. He offered a refund on the rice and I told him it's too late to win back after a bad experience. Now onto the food. Not your usual Indian, don't expect to find all your old favourites on the menu. They seem to have made up their own in an effort to be trendy or different, fail. What you can expect is to find cheap cuts of meat, any gristle or bone in that meant won't be cut out, they'll cut the meat quickly with no finesse and just throw it in to cook, so watch out for chipping your teeth and other little surprises...Empty restaurants mean one thing, and I should have known before ever try this place. Never again.
At first glance, this restaurant may not seem impressive, but it has quickly become our go-to spot for Indian cuisine. While the menu may not be extensive, the flavors are authentically Indian and maintain a high level of quality, even in a western setting. The spiciness, freshness, and overall taste of the dishes are excellent. The owner is friendly and attentive, making sure to take orders and serve customers personally. If you're craving authentic Indian dishes, this is definitely worth a try.
I dined at the restaurant on February 14th. The restaurant was approximately 40% full and had nice, clean decor. We started with Samosa Onion Fritters, which were okay and not too greasy. However, I would caution that the Samosas were very spicy. They provided only one sauce, which was also spicy. For our main dishes, we ordered Butter Chicken, Malabar Prawn Curry, naan bread, rice, and raita. The food was decent and the service was okay and fairly prompt. However, the portion sizes for the main dishes were on the smaller side. Additionally, it is important to be specific when ordering items like bread and rice. We had assumed that since there were two of us, they would bring enough rice and bread for two people, but they only served a portion for one. The prices were average for an Indian restaurant, at around $14-15 per main dish. Overall, I wouldn't call this restaurant my new favorite, but it was an average to fair experience.
