CrossTies Barbecue - Carrboro

We loved the great service and the casual atmosphere. We appreciated the concept of getting a combination plate so we could sample a lot of the restaurant's excellent barbeque fare. We also liked having three sauces brought to the table so we could add what we wanted to the prepared items.

Great BBQ and cocktails, the train car setup is especially fun

The smoked Texas BBQ brisket was dry and overlooked, hush puppies and fried okra and onions were fine. Brisket should still be little pink in middle. Offering Carolina BBQ sauce with it did not help. Also bartender needs lesson on margaritas which is best cocktail with TX food if not a beer drinker. The guys liked getting samples of beer before deciding Need some kind of light sorbet for dessert not just ice cream please. May give it another try sometime, but not for awhile

Solid for ribs, brisket, and basic sides. Nothing fancy, but very good for what it is.

The barbecued meats at this restaurant are excellent! We tried the brisket and ribs, and appreciated that they are sourced locally. The variety and creativity of the sides also stood out. We liked the unique boxcar dining experience as well. Definitely recommend giving this place a try!
