Vecino Brewing Co. - Carrboro

This place changed management at the beginning of the year and has only gone downhill since then. The unique beer selections and brewery is gone, the old friendly staff is gone, and all the pride flags that used to be in the windows are gone. The food is fine typical bar food, but it’s lost all it’s old personality. I won’t be coming here again. What a disappointment.

I had a fantastic time at this brewery, which offers a wide range of beer and cider choices. Most of the selections were unique, as all eight beverages I sampled in two different flights were fresh and enjoyable experiences! The food was good and served in shareable portions. However, the highlight for me was definitely the shuffleboard inside! Food rating: 4/5.

Parking was easy—just head to the deck, and it’s free! The place was bustling on a Saturday night. As I entered, I noticed a lively group who appeared to be a tour bus crowd enjoying some tunes at Vecino, which added to the vibrant atmosphere. The venue itself is spacious and accommodating. Although the tables were crowded, I managed to snag two seats at the bar, which turned out to be a great choice. The beer selection was impressive, featuring many options from Haws Brewing. I didn’t inquire about the in-house offerings, but the choices looked promising. I sampled a few different beers and enjoyed each one—though beer is a personal preference, so everyone’s taste will vary. To start, we ordered chips and salsa, which came with a thicker, scoopable salsa that was refreshing and avoided messy spills—at least for me! For my main course, I chose the chicken sandwich made with thigh meat. I had heard that thighs are often more flavorful than breasts, and I was intrigued to try it. Let me tell you, it was hands down the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had! The in-house pickles, the toppings, and the brioche bun all came together perfectly. I raved about it so much that the kitchen manager came out to chat, and it turned into an enjoyable conversation. The bar staff were also attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. I would definitely return to Vecino. A great stop overall!

This is a fantastic local brewery that features a concise menu alongside a wide variety of local craft beers. The space is roomy, complete with a large outdoor area where you can enjoy games. I ordered a flight of beers to sample, and I loved every single one of them! Food: 5/5
