It's a little time since we were here, but it's at the top of our list. it is always a good sign when the place is packed and the people who had not booked were turned away (shame over reserved the table for 5, which did not appear). the menu had arranged a great selection of interesting; they were so good that my wife and I have tasted the choices for all three courses. great atmosphere with attentive employees who never slowed down.
Nice atmosphere near the port with friendly acceptable service. I had lobster and my wife had fish. In both cases the meals were hardly warm and the cooked vegetables and pasta which accompanied both meals were cold. Very average meal.
Our party of three stopped by the port of Cavalaire on Easter Monday and after reading the Tripadvisor reviews complaining about the poor service at the Dolce Mare, we nearly didn 't go in but the menu and decor appealed to us, as well as the...nice location by the port, so we tried anyway. The lady waitress (who turned out to be part of the family of owners) welcomed us in a very friendly manner and there were absolutely no complaints, neither about the attitude of the staff nor about the timing of the dishes, her colleague (the owner) was equally pleasant. The food itself was also good and filling, using quality ingredients: the good value 21€ three course menu included a well garnished and tasty fish soup, but the highlight was the choucroute de la mer (seafood sauerkraut) with salmon, red snapper and mussels which was absolutely delicious. The chef even came out after the meal to chat and ask about our thoughts, which was a nice touch so do ignore the complaints about the service and come and enjoy this lovely place.
We arrived at the restaurant, having booked, at 12.30. We waited 30 minutes for them to offer a dring and to order. The starter came nearly 40 minutes later and the main course took another hour. The food was excellent but with only two waiters...and the owner serving about 25 tables, it was obvious that they had insufficient people in kitchen and serving. Restaurants should not take bookings if they cannot service them properly.
