This place is amazing! in the did this place has the 3 b: “Bueno, bonito y barato”, the gourmet water is absolutely brilliant, the eating is delicious and the portions are more than enough, even 2 people could eat with a teller. one of my favorites!
I love it when I can be the first to review a restaurant, although Le Chef is certainly not new to Celaya. Le Chef is a small restaurant that is located on the right-hand side, about 5 doors up, as you drive past the Monday Market in Celaya – it is a one-way street. It started out as a garage door restaurant and about 5 years expanded in an adjacent area to a full-blown restaurant. Over the years the core menu has remained relatively the same with some additions. They have Chinese dishes, International and Mexican. Some of my favorites are the stir fries that are called combinados – chicken and beef, as well as the fried rice with shrimp or chicken, the Cesar salad with salmon, the alfredo- style fettuccine, the seafood pasta, the three-cheese soup. They also make wonderful gourmet juices- like kiwi and strawberry for example. The prices are moderate, about $50 for 4 people and they are not licensed. The nice thing is that you can see threw to the kitchen in the back of the restaurant, and literally watch the staff preparing the meals. The Chef himself is frequently at the restaurant preparing the meals, which is a real treat. He does events and I believe they have a second location as well, so he is not always there. Before or after lunch, it is worthwhile to peek in the Monday market, which is busiest on Mondays, of course, but also in operation throughout the week, and especially on Saturdays and Sundays. Besides all the standard Mexican market fair – there are stalls in side and outside the market along the street that resell clothing from the US, this is generally not used clothing, but jobbers clothing that has been discontinued in the US, packaged and sent southward. If you look carefully you can locate some real treasures.
