Beginning with the excellent dinner, four of us dined here on Halloween as per our annual tradition. We had an excellent table on the street which was the perfect location to hand out candy to the children. Our pizzas were delicious (although the vegetarian pizza had too many vegetables placed on top, including carrots), and the waiter ensured we had sufficient wine and beer throughout our meal. Last night, however, my father and I stopped by and put in a takeaway order for two pizzas, fried eggplant, and garlic bread. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks while we waited, and the bartender was not particularly friendly. We waited over an hour! Making matters worse, they cooked our fried eggplant and garlic bread first and just left it in a plastic bag on a table outside the bar area getting cold. When we realized what they had done upon the arrival of our pizzas, we complained to both the manager and owner that we didn’t want cold food and both simply shrugged their shoulders. They removed the two items from our bill and took back the food but their apathy was astounding, especially since we have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. My father and I are still shaking our heads and question whether we’ll return.
The food is mediocre at best, but the way they charge you for the privilege to eat there is a horrible way to treat the customer...just make the owner more money. They charge you 17% service fee to use a charge card or 15 pesos to the dollar if you use cash when everywhere else uses 17 pesos to the dollar. The food is simply not worth it. Way too many great restaurants that treat their customers with respect.
