This is really out of the way of your typical tourist places, but if you really want to explore a very unique area, this area is special. We are close to the Swiss/ Italian border on the Swiss side. The closest city is Locarno on the edge of the Lake, Lago Maggiore . We follow the signs that take us to Valle Maggia this is one valley of many that finger through the Swiss Italian Alps. There are many little villages that follow a river that flows through this valley. Make sure you stop at the Tourist Office in Locarno to get a map so you can follow the villages till you get to the central village of Cevio that is next to the little Village of Cavergno, that is our destination. These are the stone villages of the Swiss Italian Alps. They look like they are from another world and except for the main towns, you will not see any signs of change into the modern world. No fast food or big box stores here. Waterfalls, mountains, walking and biking trails and stone villages are what you will find. As you drive down the valley you will find little Restaurant Grottos that serve a special beef stew with polenta that is wonderful, but if you make it down to Cavergno, you will find the best Pizza this side of Sicily. This is just a family owned place, where the locals frequent, but their Pizza is amazing and the drive to get there is too!. Just a 1/2 hour drive from Locarno.
Very fine food. Sebastian knows his craft, service was very attentive, pizzaiolo conjured up a great foccacia. We will definitely come back, the journey is worth it.
(Traducido por Google) Comimos bien y bebimos vino ... gracias ... nos encantaría volver ...
Sehr gutes Essen. Freundliche Bedienung. Wer den Glamour sucht, ist hier falsch. Eher gemütliche 'Dorfbeiz '. Dafür echt und authentisch.
