Japan Express - Chapel Hill

The food quality has declined since July 13, 2023. It seems like they have a new cook who is boiling the shrimp and broccoli instead of grilling it as usual. Overall rating for the food: 3 out of 5.

Packaged Yum Yum sauce. Weird. Veggies were definitely past their prime and liquidy. Fried rice had no egg in it so I don 't think it was actually fried rice. Just white rice thrown on a grill with some soy sauce yet it was still bland. I had low expectations due to the 3 star Google rating and it didn 't even meet those. Won 't be eating here again.

Very clean. Not sure “ribeye”steak. Is actually ribeye. Prices too high for comparable restaurants.

Arrived and there were employees running up and down back ramp. Rice was hard and chewy, chicken was hard and not edible, steak was fat and grisly. Not what I usually experience here. I told staff but there was like six people back there playing on phones and flashing lots of money around. They didn't care that I couldn't eat my food ?

The food lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. We feel like we wasted our money. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Food rating: 1 out of 5.
