Lantern - Chapel Hill

Every time I go to the laterne, I think it can't be better, but it just had a great dinner the early rolls were just fantastic and the pork excellent and the sakitini. what can I say wait staff was helpful, but not intrusive had just a wonderful culinary experience as I came to expect from laterne.

Mocktail was tasteless. apps were good. we were a party of four. the two who enticed the duck thought it was terrible. rarely overcooked. the two who ordered the damped fish felt that it was too hot after they had told him that it was mild when they were asked before the order. hard to eat.

Small tellers were all spots: crawling and swarming, chaat and salt pepper garnel all absolutely delicious with generous portions. the pork chop with papaya salad was good, but the meat content was much larger than necessary, the dish would be better than a traditional papaya salad with marinated pork cut and mixed. jump over the hot chocolate cake it is tiny, expensive and not better than what they can get home.

Duck, both soup and entrée were terrific as were the pea shoot dumplings though the sauce was a touch bland... drinks were very good and the roasted banana sundae dessert excellent. Service also fantastic. Bar area seating was a bit loud for conversation is my only criticism- regular dining room seating was booked (or just not available online, not sure) for any day I checked so that was only indoor offered to me.

Wonderful, creative, delicious food and great cocktails.
