The food at this restaurant is outstanding with excellent wine options. It can get busy on beautiful days, so take your time and enjoy the experience.

Upper Shirley Vineyards is a great place to sit and enjoy lunch! The porch and grounds are beautiful and there is a really nice river view. The staff were very polite and friendly. They have a small menu and the food was really good. Of course they have a nice wine selection. Although I didn't try any, I heard several people say it was wonderful. They have a limited gluten free menu, but there are a couple of offerings. As for accessibility, they have a few handicap spaces and easy access to the main building. Once inside its fully accessible as well. Our office had lunch there and we really enjoyed our visit. I would definitely go again. It's close to Richmond and not terribly far from Williamsburg.

Took a little bit to get there, but well worth the effort. Beautiful property, plenty of space to eat, indoors and outdoors. May have been the best burger that we have ever had and coming from NYC and having travelled a bit, that's a big statement. Wine was great, bought a few bottles for gifts. Take the time to get there if you are in Williamsburg or anywhere close.

We haven't been to Upper Shirley since the pandemic forced them to stop table service and only offer box lunches. However, as of the end of April, they have a new spring menu with more than just cold sandwiches. They are open from 11-5 Wednesday-Sunday. We decided to visit on a Wednesday as it was a beautiful day to sit on the veranda. There are no reservations, it is first-come, first-served, and seating is outside. You order food and drinks in the wine bar and they give you a number for food delivery. I tried a tasting kit with 10 different wines, and my partner had a white wine flight. I had the Prosciutto flatbread, while my partner had the Route 5 double burger with American cheese, speck, salad, tomatoes, and onion fries. We also shared a side of Brussels sprouts. The food was just as good as before the pandemic, with generous portions. The Brussels sprouts were a standout, nicely roasted with a delicious honeycomb glaze. The atmosphere was still lovely without full table service. The wine bar provides water and there are utensils available on another table. The veranda has plenty of seating with a view of the James River. We plan to return soon.
