It's amazing. a nice tasty bites on our charleston holiday! definitely book their reservations. and maybe try several desserts because they were incredible and I was jealous of other tables desserts (even if our were amazing and delicious! the cooking menu is a combination of products from each of the four influential menus. we chose each selection of an influential category and build our own meal. there was no one thing that wasn't good!
Seriously one of the best culinary experiences we’ve ever had. We both ordered the “Chef’s Tasting Menu”. Each course was so unique and delicious. Our server Emily was a pro! She was attentive and yet gave us time to enjoy each course.
Amazing. The service, the food, the atmosphere, the parking(being downtown), everything. Amazing. Laura was our hostess and a great one at that. We got the Chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was exquisite. I was trying things that I've never had before. Hands down, one of the finest restaurants in Charleston which means Circa 1886 is one of the finest restaurants anywhere. An added bonus was when Charles came up to our table and told us the story behind Head Chef Marc Collins inspiration for the grilled cheese entrée. Ask him about it if you go.
What an incredible evening! I made reservations for my wife and I as we are in SC visiting for our anniversary and Circa 1886 could not have been more welcoming! Everyone was highly attentive. They sat us in a booth set aside from the dining room and had a gorgeous rose table setting. Our food, honestly, was impressive. They brought us a starter from the chef (in addition to the one we ordered) which was a goat cheese mousse paired with chilled tomato soup. You may not associate a grilled cheese with a restaurant of this caliber but PLEASE do try it! So rich/tasty and balanced with the caviar. The beef tenderloin was cooked exactly to my preferred temperature and my wife’s scallops were to perfection. To finish, let me tell you about the strawberry shortcake soufflé… please please please order it. We were tempted to make a dessert choice involving chocolate but the meal had already been on the richer side so we wanted to balance it out with sweet. A hot soufflé that you pour a strawberry glaze into is to die for! The grand marnier ice cream has a hint of a fizz and is just perfect. Thank you for an incredible evening and to Bryan out waiter!
Food was good and the service was outstanding! All the servers were well versed on their food and had great house recommendations as well as some noted personal favorites. John Riddick was our server and was so informative. He told us the history of the Mansion and was particularly helpful and knowledgeable on the wines. We enjoyed the wine pairing for the chefs menu and he also made some great recommendations outside of that. Really enjoyed it and look forward to returning next time we are in Charleston!
