The Southern General - Charleston

The cheese curds were such a delicious start to our meals at this small, low-key restaurant. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing with the best sauce on it. We tried the hand cut fries which were seasoned perfectly and the mac and cheese had that great southern thickness and taste. Our server was excellent and made sure our drinks were always full. My wife and I came in for lunch.. the general store brought back memories… Mallory suggest the sloppy Joe.. outstanding.. Mark came out and said hello. What a great group of employees.. we will be back.

The hickory burger was excellent! The staff is friendly. Cool little place I’ll be back.

Stopped in here after taking a tour of the tea farm and was so glad we did! The food was delicious and service was so friendly! Would go back again if we are ever in the area.

Good food and good service. However it’s a 2.5 star experience due to the 20% industry charge (not a tip I was told) tacked onto my bill. When I asked about it I was told they were being transparent — yet I didn’t find out until looking at my bill. If a business needs to pay more (and the associated payroll taxes) to attract and keep staff then so be it — but don’t ask me to pay for it. If prices need to be raised to make a profit then do so and let people know why prices went up. With good food … – show
