On The Rocks - CHARLEVILLE

The menu offers a wide variety of options, making it hard to choose. After considering other reviews that mentioned the lamb rack, I decided to give it a try. However, the chef should recognize that lamb rack shouldn’t be cooked to well done. It lacked the pink blush that would have made it juicy, although it wasn't tough and the flavor was good. The accompanying vegetables were fresh, but the presentation left something to be desired; there was simply half a carrot and half a zucchini cut lengthwise. Additionally, the carrot was quite hard and undercooked. My husband opted for the rib eye steak, which was cooked to medium rare as requested, but it was rather chewy and not as tender as expected. On a positive note, our salt and pepper calamari as an appetizer was fantastic—very tender. I noticed the table next to us ordered a pizza, which was massive, probably at least 18 inches in diameter. I can't comment on its taste, but it looked like enough to feed three people. Overall, the service was prompt, and the decor was pleasant. Dining options in Charleville are somewhat limited, so it’s nice to have a restaurant that offers something different from a pub, and they seem to be putting in a good effort.

I ordered the lamb shank pie, which was simply magnificent! The lamb was delicious and melted in my mouth, nestled under a layer of peas and sitting on a bed of superbly prepared mashed potatoes, all smothered in luscious gravy. The pastry was cooked to perfection. I paired my meal with a bottle of Wolf Blass Merlot, and it was an experience worthy of any fine dining establishment in Sydney or Melbourne. The service I received from the two lovely young ladies was outstanding. They were courteous, professional, and attentive, making my dining experience even more enjoyable. It makes me wonder why this place isn’t packed with locals from Charleville and the surrounding areas every night. I can only hope that I’m flooded in again tomorrow and find myself back “On The Rocks.” Thank you for a lovely evening, ladies!

The food was incredible—so good that I almost ate my own fingers! It’s truly an exquisite place.

We had a large group of 30 people for dinner and we had a great night, food was amazing. Great menu. Desserts were to die for! Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing place. Rooms are so clean an tidy. Does not feel like I am in Outback town, 5 Star feel. Very friendly staff. Place has restaurant attached to it. Perfect place to stay when here. I had the tomahawk steak, cooked to perfection. All the vegetables perfect.. staff perfect... Small menu but cooked to perfection. Top Notch
