My waitress Charity was super cool and all the staff was super nice about me accidentally being there after closing. I will recommend this to anyone coming to the area. The hushpuppies must be Chihuahua breed, lol. They tiny but tasty.
Great spot for a delicious and very reasonably priced dinner! Our server Allison was so attentive and explained any questions we had with a big smile and her Carolina charm. The food was scrumptious, especially the broccoli casserole, Pimento burger, and hush puppies. Amazing place!Food: 5/5
Midwood Smokehouse was the second BBQ joint I tried upon moving to Charlotte (after Spoons). It’s been consistent after all these years and through the pandemic. The appetizers are solid. The Smoked Wings with Ranch and Garlic Buffalo sauce are my favorite followed by the Pimento Cheese fries and Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeños (which also double as a side). My favorite main menu entrees are the Brisket Burnt Ends, St. Louis Ribs, BBQ Chicken and Sausage. They also have daily specials. Friday features Cheerwine Pork Burnt Ends and on weekends you’ll find a Smoked Beef Rib the size of your forearm. Sides include the standards like Slaw, Collards, Cucumber Salad, Mac and Hushpuppies and unique ones like Broccoli Casserole.Service is always good. Apps come out quickly. Entrees follow shortly thereafter and drinks are consistently filled. Parking is easy in the shopping center lot. All in all a great, consistent spot in Charlotte for Q.
We were in the area and decided to stop by. I've heard really good things about this chain and a wanted to try it for myself. We were seated right away, the place was not too busy. Our server took our order, I ordered the well fed with a choice of 4 proteins (half ribs, double brisket, burnt ends) the sides (Mac n cheese, baked beans) 5/10 The ribs I did ask for them to not be sauced but they were TOUGH.. I did not enjoy them at all, the burnt ends and brisket were okay. The Mac n cheese was so chewy and hard I had to ask if I could replace it with another side and got coleslaw I should have ordered another side of baked beans instead because they were really good it also came with hushpuppies and pickles. My son ordered the chicken tenders off the kids menu 3/10 He complained about how the tenders were hurting his teeth and mouth as he was eating. They were fried so hard which made them rock hard... He literally sat there and pealed the crust off in order to enjoy them.. I hated that. Along with his tenders he ordered fresh fruit The fruit did look fresh and he enjoyed them. What I thought was so weird is not to long after we were served our food our server brought out my check. I made a comment that I wasn't ready for the check yet because we were going to order dessert.... I ordered a small banana pudding and my son wanted ice cream but they only had vanilla flavored ice cream, no chocolate. So, he opted to just have some of my pudding. But what a bummer, the menu should def specify that they only offer vanilla ice cream so the kids know ahead of time. I did notice that the reviews indicate that midwood is good based on which one you go to, but why would that be the case? If all the locations serve the same thing, shouldn't it be consistent??Overall Happy I got to try them out, but I'll stick to the smoke pit for bbq, they just get it right there.
Good was very tasty and service was great. The place was very busy but we had made a reservation and were sat right on arrival. The dining room is very large and there is lots of seating and more seating at the bar. We chose to share the corn bread skillet and this was very good. For dinner I got the half chicken and it was so filling and came with two sides. I got the Mac and cheese and broccoli and they were so good. The hush puppies were good as well. Surprisingly good bbq food for a strip mall.
