Volo - Charlotte

We were very pleased with our visit to Volo this week. We had a group of six and were seated promptly at a great table. Lauren served us and was very attentive throughout the evening. We met Alex, the new chef who just recently started and is now creating a new menu.We tried several appetizers from the new menu. Some were great and others were less than amazing. The octopus was sliced very thin and cooked perfectly. A plate of meatballs appeared and they were the best. Tasted like a blend of meats and the sugo was top notch.The arancini was was good, but could have used a little more seasoning. The least favorite was the Caprese salad, we would have liked it better if the balsamic glaze was on the food and not just on the sides of the plate. The carpaccio with buffalo mozzarella was our second favorite which was richly flavored and seasoned well. All the dishes were garnished well and looked appetizing.The wine list is in a state of repair, so we discussed wines with Lauren and she suggested several wines to try. They have a good selection of wines from Piemonte and Tuscany regions and the prices were fair.On to the entrees. I had the tagliatelle Bolognese and was very pleased. It was a good blend and the pasta was done well. The penne alla vodka was excellent! The only complaint was the parpadelle pasta with veal sauce was cooked past al-dente.I have read some great reviews about Volo and this was our first visit. I was very impressed and looking forward to seeing the new menu and wine list. Make your weekend reservations now as this little gem gets full.

Finally found it! Excellent food, ambiance and skilled service in one perfect Italian restaurant. For a wonderful night out don’t miss Volo. Everything was fantastic and can’t wait to go back again!

If you are looking for a unique restauraunt, Volo is the place. First, they have really amazing staff, they hustle and really make the experience better. Alex, my server was fantastic. The food is amazing and the manager knows how to really manage a restaurant while creating a fun and exciting atmosphere. She even checked up on my table mid course to see if everything was alright, and it was more then that!! The food is amazing, such a variety of dishes including: fish, red meat, salads, and really good pastas. Cant forget the amazing dessert menu also. My favorite is the tiramusu. This restaurant is a must go to if you live in Charlotte and we will be back soon!!!

Stumbled upon this gem on a Saturday evening. Not having a reservation we opted to eat at the bar, and our entire experience was phenomenal. Justin makes great cocktails and provided excellent service. The atmosphere was incredibly comfortable with truly suberb food. We will defintely be repeat customers.
