They're trying to be a better restaurant than the competition but the quality just isn't good enough to hit that level that's worth the expense. The sashimi is cut too thick and the sushi rice is cooked perfectly but it has no flavor. Also my friend had miso soup and she said it was bland and there were no mushrooms. My yakisoba was a bit bland too and I was disappointed that the shrimp were the very small kind. Also personal note I wish there were special maki that had eel as an option and I wish there were more special maki with tobiko on top. Also on the night we were there the restaurant was way too quiet with no music playing. It was a little off putting.
Had dinner with a friend here, first time for me. We ordered 2 apps (veggie tempura spicy chili cucumber salad), some sushi rolls (Idaho, Buddhist, and Inari), and my friend ordered some chicken udon noodles. Oh we also ordered 3 cocktails (mine was a melon one, can 't remember what her 2 cocktails were). All delicious! My only negative was that the inari (tofu pockets) sushi wasn 't filled with rice like I 'm used to, there was a little bit of rice and the bottoms of the tofu pockets were folded under themselves...I think they 'd be better if they were filled with sushi rice like they 're traditionally made. It 's the only local spot I can find with Inari still on their menu too, so I 'm happy about that regardless! The Vegetarian options are plentiful which is really nice to see, and the rolls and apps we ordered were really well done and tasty. I 'd be happy going here again or ordering take-out! The space still feels new, clean, and not overwhelmingly loud. The staff was attentive, and very kind. Drinks food came out quickly, dishes were cleared quickly, and they helped us box everything up at the end. Great spot for literally any occasion.
Kinda expensive for the area..but the food and service was good
My favorite sushi around, and superb cocktail menu with some great Japanese whiskey
The owners have changed in the last month, but the menu and prices have not changed. The previous owners are wonderful people, but the new owners have only added to the menu. To say anything “has changed” is premature and shows people are not willing to give the new owners a chance.
