Cantina Del Barrio - Cheltenham

This is a lovely local restaurant with very good service. However, it was a bit too bright, and the atmosphere would improve if it were a little softer and dimmer.

Incredible! I highly recommend Cantina del Barrio. We visited on a Tuesday when they have a special deal—buy one, get the second taco at half price! I’m vegan, and my friend eats meat, but we both opted for the vegan jackfruit tacos, which were delicious. We also ordered a side of spiced fries, and the portion sizes were generous! They serve the best cocktails; I particularly recommend the Picante and the Paloma (though I didn't try all of them, I'm sure they're all fantastic). The menu is very reasonably priced, the atmosphere is great, and the service is fast and efficient. They also have impressive social media engagement and a really friendly staff. I can’t wait to go back!

The food was bland and uninspiring, lacking the authenticity of true Mexican cuisine. I was disappointed.

We were able to book a table for 9pm, however when we arrived we were told we had to order immediately as the kitchen closed at 9pm. I think the last booking should be at 8:30 as we felt rushed to choose our starters and mains and drinks at the same time. We opted to have the 9.5% service charge removed as we did not think the service was worth it. The waiters just served the food and drink and did not return to ask if we were enjoying our food. However, the food was delicious though, and we had the margaritas which were great too!

Not super busy but it was lunch time , margaritas were fab , service very good tip if you plan on sharing tacos , don’t order them all at once as they will be cold by the time you get to eat them ! (Our mistake)
