My husband was very happy to find a shower he could walk into easily: no doors, a glass partition and hot water arriving quickly. Towels hang through a long slot beneath the paired basins. The beds were confortable and a fan was provided if needed. Our room faced the main road (as will most of the others) but the windows are soundproof, with blinds. The dining room and the evening are still traditional but offered sensible options, including large main course salads. Our choices of starters of pate and goats cheese salad were good classics, followed by bavette and fish, finishing with a mousse au chocolat. The draught beer was a good accompaniment on a hot evening. The breakfast certainly justifies the costs: plenty of choices of cereals, yoghurts, juices, eggs, ham and cheese as well as the usual croissants and bread and "serve yourself" coffee machine means no need to wait for staff to have an extra cup. All in very good value and a convenient one night stop over within easy reach of Orleans and motorway connections.
As a regular traveller to Orleans for the past 20 years I can happily recommend this hotel restaurant. There really is no alternative - I've tried just about every hotel in Orleans itself, and now book here for every trip. Basic rooms, but cheap, good menu options, friendly family members as staff, and a bar that can get a bit buzzy in the early evening [though it's always a Friday night when I stay, it may be quieter through the week]
It is rare that the Logis classification lets travellers down, but in this case it did as the food was found to be very poor quality with the main dishes barely edible. The hotel (rooms) appear to have been upgraded recently and the management should find a new chef if they want to stay in business.
Disappointing! Nowhere near as nice as the photograph suggests, -, NO LIFT, as the signs suggested! The food, served at evening dinner, was crude, lacking in quality, taste and finesse; the waitress barely managed to conceal her disdain. A street light shone directly into the windows of room 104, through flimsy curtains. and one slept on RED non cotton, uncomfortable sheets. The most expensive and the least value of the Logis we have stayed in.
Typical french logis de france. Good enough for a stopover on your way.
