Ruxbin - Chicago

Birthday celebration. Had the octopus, foie gras, cod and venison. Each one had inventive accompaniments and flavors. The pre-fixe/order for the table aspect might make this place not ideal for everyone but we LOVED every dish.

The quality of the selections was very good. The size of the portions was restricted but definitely sufficient to enjoy the unique and outstanding flavors.

This is the classic, beautifully plated food, comfortable high end vibe. Several additional tastes offered which is a lovely welcomed extra from the Chef. A superb bread. Overall, I'd say courses were all very good one or two close to truly excellent. Five courses are definitely filling. Seating is very cozy so you'll be eavesdropped given the seating which may deter some from going. Very friendly staff. And the BYO with $5 corkage is fantastic.

Lovely first experience at Ruxbin. Food was creative but not contrived; very interesting combinations of flavors and textures. Staff was attentive and gracious without hovering. Overall, a wonderful dining experience.
