We use The Irish as a place to eat cheap pub grub done well, it's fairly consistent and the service is friendly. Favorites are the parmas which are excellent but I've never finished one, ever. My personal fave is the Guinness pie but with chips rather than mash, very tender meat and a nice pastry. Tried the pizzas but not a fan. Good choice of draft beers to choose from and reasonably priced , the wine list is also surprisingly extensive. Massive negative is the toilets that always stink no matter what time of day
Took a friend there yesterday for lunch. Had a Senior's 2 course meal...chicken schnitzel with chips and salad and tiramasu for dessert. The amount was very ample and cost $15.00 each. Lots to choose from the main menus. Staff very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is dark but sort of cosy! Loved the wood fire burning. Sat in the snug but furniture a bit spartan....and worn out....it needs a bit of a facelift. I expect the night time clientele and atmosphere would be very different from daytime.
Dropped in for lunch.Ordered 2 parmas, and a Guinness pie.Parmas arrived in a reasonable time, but the pie was 10 minutes later. Not good enough. The pie was nice and tasty, but 1 Parma was undercooked. When we complained the staff member got us confused with someone else that was complaining. They took the plate, and basically cut out the rare chicken and returned the same plate. Claimed it was just a vein!!!!Again, not good enough.Maybe they were having an off day, but I won't be going back to find out.On the plus side, it appeared to be a pleasant pub. Plenty of atmosphere. The bar staff were friendly and polite.
Dined here last night with a small group. Fantastic range of beers, particularly Irish varieties on tap. The service to order was excellent, with staff members going out of their way to cater for dietary needs. Only negatives would be the tired, grungy decor and our meals not arriving very close together. All meals were fresh, cooked as requested and very tasty. There was a range of special partner deals available (e.g. Burger and Drink; Parma and Pint etc). This really made for a cheap night out ($30 each including drinks). Excellent location, next to the village cinemas.
