After enjoying a fair amount of red wine during the evening, we were craving nothing more than a Full English breakfast on a cold winter morning. And we were not disappointed. Despite the staff being Portuguese, they have mastered the art of the traditional English breakfast, as evidenced by the number of workers in high-visibility jackets and hard hats dining at the tables. I haven't seen many eateries recently, whether high-end restaurants or casual diners, as busy as this one – some customers were even turned away. This speaks volumes to the hardworking and charming staff at Madeira. £5 for a Full English breakfast with tea and toast included is a steal!
Brilliant breakfast venue! We had stayed overnight nearby in the Front Line Club so we walked down Praed Street and found this gem. Our timing was superb as we had a choice of tables but five minutes later the place was packed. The tea was great and the full English sublime. £10 for two. This is a very happy place to be, attracting trades people, professionals and locals you share a table and feel the buzz that is London here. A real gem.
Being Portuguese, I am accustomed to eating delicious food and am a frequent patron at Toca. However, I recently decided to venture out and try another Portuguese restaurant, Madeira. To my dismay, my visit today was underwhelming. I ordered a steak, but was served a tough, flavorless piece of meat that seemed to be of very low quality. It was difficult to cut and lacked the usual delicious flavors I associate with Portuguese cuisine. Overall, my experience at Madeira was disappointing and I would not recommend this restaurant.
Good place to eat, delicious and typical London food, everything at its hygienic time, quiet, good price, everything close by, nice to walk around, and shopping area.
Although the restaurant may not look like much from the outside, once you enter, you will find great value. It consistently draws in customers from the nearby station. The breakfast options are excellent and reasonably priced, a pleasant departure from the expensive choices found at many hotels. In conclusion, it is a wonderful café.
