Paige served us and she was incredibly nice , professional, friendly and extremely helpful. She definitely made our day ! We need more people like her ! X Thank you Paige xx you are making a huge difference <3 I hope your effort there is recognised.
I went to Notes, Crossrail Place alone. I was ignored for what felt like a long time after I walked in. I asked a server if I may sit on a stool at the window bar and she said yes. I then had to wait a long time to be served. The server said that he couldn’t take my food order as the kitchen had an issue. I ordered just a coffee. 20 mins later my coffee still hadn’t arrived and during this time another server both accepted and served a food order from a couple who came in after I did. I left (without having had any coffee served) after 20 minutes waiting for my coffee. I could understand (but would not agree with) a “we don't accept solo diners” policy, but wasting 30 mins of somebody’s time is unacceptable.
The food was poor; we ordered pancakes with bacon and maple syrup for £11.50, and whilst the price wasn’t bad, the food was underwhelming. It was evidently three packet pancakes with very fatty bacon, nothing different to McDonald’s. We also ordered 2 pastries, which weren’t warmed up. Without sounding dramatic, there was no chocolate in the pain au chocolat. When we asked if it could be swapped for another one, one staff member made us feel very uncomfortable about it. The “on toast” section of the menu is also underwhelming, with the portions being small and toppings being minimal. The only positive was the interior, which was nice, as was the newly employed waitress who served us- she was lovely. Don’t go, waste of money!
This restaurant is a charming place situated immediately outside the exit of the Elizabeth Line tube station, perfect for starting your day with a coffee and pastry. They offer table service as well as takeaway options.
If you're looking for great coffee, this is the place to go. The coffee is fantastic, although it may be a bit more expensive than chains like Pret A Manger. However, it is definitely worth it.
