We visited The Podium with friends and four children for a wonderful Christmas teddy bears picnic afternoon tea. The food was delicious and beautiful themed. The wildlife teddies given to each child were made from 100% recycled plastic and so fluffy and soft. The waiting staff were so accommodating, patient and kind, so a huge thank you to Rajni and Nevada.
The staff and food was excellent! I highly recommend stopping here if you can. Nevada, Roger, Federico, Goutan, Anya we’re so friendly and knowledgable. They really helped make our trip special and memorable. Superb Negronis and Old Fashioneds.
We were staying at the London Hilton Park Lane and had a great breakfast at Podium. So when we had about an hour to eat and early dinner before a play that evening, we decided to try it again for dinner. To be fair, the food was good. We both ordered Salmon with some appetizers. Scallops and a bowl of tomato soup. The issue was the waiter delivered only ONE salmon and it came before our appetizers! Since we were in a hurry we weren’t too bothered but it took a long time to get the appetizers and we were both done eating and by the time the 2nd salmon came my wife was already back in the room to get ready for the play! I told the waiter about 5 minutes before it came that if it wasn’t ready by NOW, send it back or cancel it. When he finally bought it, I asked him if he expected me to pay for it and he said of course! I asked to talk to the manager. I explained we were already finished eating, it was VERY late and my wife left quite a while ago. He said the same thing, that he had to charge me for it. He blamed it on the fact they were “busy” but it was 5:30 pm and the place was 90% empty. My guess is there were some staffing issues in the kitchen, but the guests should not suffer because of that. At that point, I let him know we were staying at the hotel for 8 nights and I insisted he take it back and take it off my bill immediately. He eventually did it after I had to pressure him a bit and at the end was apologetic. We dine out a lot, and at a minimum, after all the hassle and delays, he should have at least took the late salmon off the bill without hesitation. If you were dining at a fine restaurant in Las Vegas, not only would this not happen, but if it did, the management would realize their mistake and be fair to the guest. Apparently, the management training here is different (lacking) and they haven’t heard the phrase “the customer is always right”.
