The production itself was truly spectacular, with ticket prices ranging from £12 for standing room to £175 for premium seats. It is recommended to book your tickets well in advance, although last-minute returns may be available on the day.
The restaurant on the ground floor has a very friendly staff and offers a ramp for disabled access. They serve the most delicious gluten-free and vegan cakes. The food quality was excellent for the price of £20 for three items, much better than the crowded and mass-produced food at Costa. The tables were well-spaced and there is also the excellent opera house nearby. I highly recommend checking out the recently revived opera shop as well.
We decided to try some drinks at the cafe. The coffee came in small, clear insulated plastic cups. However, it was weak, lacking in flavor, and overpriced for the small portion. Additionally, it was not served hot enough. It was quite disappointing. Despite the excellent view from upstairs, we won't be purchasing coffee from there again.
Having booked to see The Sleeping Beauty we decided to treat ourselves to the special Sleeping Beauty Afternoon Tea which did not dissappoint. The setting itself is extrordinary and it was wonderful to wander around the venue and take in the building itself. The Afternoon Tea was fantasic, the attention to detail on the cakes and sandwiches stunning and even the tea itself amazing. I was so taken with the Red Velvet tea that was available that I have now ordered some directly from the provider. The staff at the restaurant were so attentive and did not rush us at all. The experience itself made a special day out with my mum even more special.
We booked for afternoon tea and it is a fabulous venue. The service was good also the pastries. We got 4 very small sandwiches. The scones were small served with a small pot of jam and 1 small scoop of cream on one plate for 2 people. We asked for more and were told they only make enough for each booking. It was very poor value. Aside from the views dont waste your time or money as you can find better value elsewhere.
