It's a good idea to open for tea and coffee in the morning, but how can it be called a restaurant if it doesn't open in the evening?
We finally paid a visit to Ten this Saturday and were impressed by the beautiful decor, exposed brickwork, and contemporary jazz playing in the background. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, the service was very personalized, professional, and friendly. The wine list was short but of high quality, and we enjoyed a delicious Sauvignon Blanc with our starter and a superb Malbec with our main course. The food at Ten is almost there, but not quite. The starters of heritage tomatoes and a modern take on prawn cocktail were flavorful and well presented. Our ribeye steak and house burger mains were both great, although the steak was slightly undercooked. The salad was well-dressed, but the crispy onion rings with paprika had too much seasoning, making them taste overly dusty. The biggest disappointment was the cheap, store-bought chips that did not match the quality of the rest of the meal. We had an overall enjoyable experience at Ten and hope they can attract enough customers to stay in business. We recommend that they focus on maintaining high quality in their offerings, particularly in regards to the sourcing of their ingredients and the execution of their dishes. With a little improvement, Ten has the potential to be a successful establishment.
I had been eyeing this restaurant as it is located near my home, so I decided to finally give it a try when my mom was visiting. We went there for dinner on a Tuesday night and found that it was quickly filling up. Despite only having one waiter (as his colleague was not feeling well), he was busy but still managed to be polite and friendly. I ordered soup, fish, and a cheese board for dessert. The food and wine were of good quality, although not exceptional, it was clear that a lot of care went into sourcing the ingredients. Unfortunately, they did not have any dessert wine or port to accompany the cheese board, but the waiter suggested a glass of red wine which paired well. The restaurant is small, seating around 30 people, and it seems like they are trying to cater to a variety of needs by opening in the morning for breakfast as well. Overall, it is a pleasant and cozy local restaurant that offers good food at reasonable prices. I will definitely be returning.
