Very odd little restaurant. Its cozy up front, but the back 'room ' was white table cloths on glorified patio furniture. It felt strange to eat there as a non-regular. The staff were all nice, but the service was not terribly fast. On the other hand, the food far surpassed my expectations! It felt very homemade and authentic in all the best ways. All in all, I 'm more sure it would be my first recommendation, but I enjoyed it.
Neighborhood Italian. On a Monday night the only waitress was also the bartender and did a terrific job with a full room, but I felt she needed another server to help her out. Room was full and the delivery guy was running in and out the whole time we were there with bags. Pasta was good, antipasto was a bit underwhelming. We'll go back.
I don't know how Aperture stacks up against other Brooklyn Italian restaurants, but we found the service and food to be excellent. Obviously people eat late in Brooklyn because it was deserted at 6:30pm. The pizza is fantastic. Thin and fresh tasting, crazy good sauce. The calamari is also quite good.
Small, personable establishment with limited seating inside and extended seating down and behind the walk-in bar/restaurant with a wood fire pizza oven. Neighborhood, Red Hook watering hole. Lots of happy, drunken Brooklynites who all seem to know one another gathered around the bar and greeting one another as they come and go. Food was decent. Drinks were wonderful. Just trust the bartender. She was great. Bread and butter were oddly amazing. If I ever find myself at Ikea for something again, I'd definitely go back.
