Papaya Dog - City of New York

Listen, my husband was really into NY city hot dogs while we were there, so he tried a bunch. We went back to Papaya Dog multiple times. He said the hot dogs felt like they 'd been hanging out just for the day enough to steam, not long enough to be scary . This place was his favorite place for hot dogs. In the whole city. The staff was super friendly and fun. They had a good sense of humor about us showing up in theater formal attire a couple of different nights. Just try it. It was sort of charming.

I ordered the cheese steak and fries, and it was very good. The combo is a good deal and comes with a lot of food. Not a lot of places serve shoe string fries so it is a nice change. You can see them make the food right in front of you. Only downside is not a lot of sitting room or standing room, but that doesn't matter if you are getting takeout or delivery via food app.Parking: There was parking on the street in front of the restaurant. I don't know if that's the case in the daytime but it was around 11:00 p.m.

If you haven't tried Papaya yet, it's a great option for a budget-friendly lunch. I had two loaded hot dogs and a delicious non-alcoholic Piña Colada. Don't go in expecting anything fancy, but the staff were very patient and friendly, which is a big plus in such a busy city. Food rating: 4/5.
