I was in Hobart for 6 weeks and visited BYC Anchors Restaurant twice. The food was fantastic, but the staff could make more of an effort to ensure a great dining experience.
I recently dined at a well-known, small restaurant located in the Yacht Club that is only open on Thursdays and Fridays. I had previously enjoyed excellent meals there, so I was excited to return for another delicious dining experience. I decided to try the senior menu, which was reasonably priced. The pea and ham soup I ordered was not the traditional variety, but it was still delicious and suited my taste preferences. The garlic bread served alongside the soup was also excellent. My husband enjoyed his Calamari, although he found it a bit chewy. Unfortunately, my pork belly dish was disappointing as the crackling was too hard and difficult to chew. Despite this, the meat was okay but a bit dry. The accompanying salad and other flavors were tasty. The service was prompt and pleasant.
I just finished a meal in this beautiful restaurant. Nice to the chef to prepare so tasty, tasteful food with individual flair for such a reasonable price. We had the grilled fish and pesto pasta with mushrooms and chicken with common cherry garlic bread... and a sticky date pudding to finish Yam, Yam, Yam! The staff was very efficient and friendly. The view of the dusk was beautiful and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. Nice completion of our stay in Tassie. Very recommended.
Having such a magnificent location, this is a popular venue for special events. The first two times I attended functions here they were very large groups with set menus, so I didn't really feel I could write a review, but today I came for lunch...(again with a group of friends) and was just wowed with the quality of food and efficiency of service. I chose entrée size pork belly which itself was lovely but the salad, dressing, potatoes and gravy it was served on were all equally outstanding. I also treated myself to the very last plate of Crème Brulee with Lavender Ice cream, which was superb. Try it during the day. It really comes into its own! It is not as crowded as it is in the evenings and very relaxed, fulfilling place to eat in an unhurried fashion and look out the window. I forgot mine, but others claimed vouchers from the Entertainment Book a real bonus!
