It looked like a restaurant from a big franchise chain from the road but was quite individual once we were inside. Very friendly service with...good, local produce and dishes. On the strength of this want to visit again so have booked the same accommodation for our journey south on 13th May 2017 and plan to eat here again. (Sadly we can not book a table as our arrival time is uncertain!
We had diner here during a stop-over on the way back from holiday. Our hotel was closeby. The meal was good, with local specialties. The prices are ok. Because we were early, we were served relatively quickly. They do however need more staff in the...restaurant. When we left, the restaurant was full and the 2 waitresses were running around like crazy.
Stopped at Clermont Ferrand en route to South of France at the usual cheap Ibis motorway hotel. Receptionist told us of great local restaurant just a few steps away. She suggested booking and we were glad we did. Restaurant opened for evening service on a...Tuesday at 7.15pm, by 8.00pm the place was heaving and all with locals. Auvergne food is substantial and our meat/chicken main courses were filling and delicious. But dessert was the highlight. I only had room for coffee but my husband chose a dessert melange de terroir. For less than £6 he had three mini puddings, a creme brûlée, a panna cotta and a small Bakewell tart plus a generous Chartreuse type digestive AND a coffee. It was a choice to die for! If you are stopping here en route to the South don't fail to give it La Mangoune a go. I'm told this is a small chain type restaurant. I certainly intend to seek the chain out elsewhere. It was a great night and a great value meal.
