We had calamari for an appetizer, then we both had the chicken marsala. It was not served over pasta but rather with mashed potatoes and broccoli, and was delicious. The bar area was crowded when we arrived at 8 on a Saturday, but had mostly cleared out when we finished. A guitarist was playing for diners in another room, but we chose the quieter room and there were only 3 other occupied tables.
Very personable management and staff. Has an old time feel- old wood stairs and rails etc, dark carpeting- with a modern shower experience. Management is available immediately and the owners are regularly on site and kind Rooms: 3 Service: 4 Location: 3 Hotel highlights: Romantic
On my initial visit, were it not for my semi-annual review commitment, it might have marked my last visit. To commence, the hostess exhibited a discourteous demeanor. Upon entering and requesting to join my party, she departed without offering the customary guidance or courtesies. I found myself momentarily perplexed by the situation. Our party, consisting of three individuals, was accommodated in the primary dining area, where live music resonated at a deafening volume, making conversation challenging. The room's vaulted ceiling and glass windows compounded the acoustic issue, creating a disruptive echo effect. Furthermore, it was disconcerting to witness an individual engaged in filming activities within the dining space, exhibiting intrusive behavior by leaning on tables and encroaching upon patrons' personal space while they dined. The establishment should also consider engaging an electrician to address the flickering light issue, which was notably distracting. The bartender's inability to craft a proper dirty martini, a cocktail comprising just three ingredients, was a disappointment. My observation led me to question the proficiency of the kitchen staff, as my order for a dry house salad took an excessive 45 minutes to materialize, accompanied by a martini overly laden with olive juice. The salad itself left much to be desired, featuring wilted arugula and bruised cucumber. To their credit, the wait staff exhibited exceptional professionalism and dedication, effectively compensating for other shortcomings. Our waitress, in particular, was commendable and tirelessly diligent in her duties. It is my hope that she is remunerated fairly, possibly on an hourly basis, given her exemplary service. Nonetheless, the kitchen requires more proficient supervision. It was disconcerting that there were no vegan options available for one of our party members, who could not even order fries due to cross-contamination concerns. The incident of a raw, cold-center burger, ordered medium-rare, further underscores the need for improved kitchen operations. While the establishment promptly removed the item from the bill, it raised concerns regarding food safety. I harbor no ill will towards our waitress, as the excessively loud live music impeded her ability to effectively communicate. In conclusion, my overall impression of the establishment is far from favorable. It appears to cater to an older demographic seeking to relive their youth, with food quality falling short of expectations. A reevaluation and, potentially, retraining of the bartender and line cooks would greatly benefit the establishment. In the absence of my commitment to a semi-annual update, I would not be inclined to return. Please accept my candid assessment. Rooms: 1 Service: 3 Location: 1
It has been a while. My last experience with the food here was not good, but i decided to give them another chance. So I stopped in for a quick dinner. The ambiance is nice in the new room wide open and rustic. I ordered chicken wings, fries, and a draft beer. The wings and fries took forever while I was seeing those around me who arrived after me get their drinks, then their food before me. Both the wings and fries were borderline cold when they were served, but so was the beer, so that was at least good. The wings were very dry and tough, like burnt cardboard to eat, and the fries were OK better if they were hot. The server was inattentive and seemed confused. Didn't check for drink refills or how things were going I had to get the server's attention for refills.. I tried one last time for redemption with their $10 cake with a scoop of ice cream. After waiting 15 minutes for the cake, the server stopped by and asked me if I needed anything else. Wow! One star for Stottsville Inn. For the combination of nice ambiance and one cold beer. And that's generous. While I was looking at my cold dinner, I got a sense that the full parking lot was attributed primarily to bar patrons enjoying the vast selection of beers and other libations because it certainly isn't the food they are enjoying.. I won't return here unless I am thirsty and want to sit at the bar and knock down a few. NO eats though.
Lovely old building and ample parking space even when busy. We have only been there twice and enjoyed it but we have some reservations about the place. On Sunday 10/8/23 we went there specifically because the brunch online menu mentioned eggs Benedict with smoke salmon. Unfortunately, it was no longer on the menu when we got there, nor was the regular eggs Benedict with ham also on the online menu. So my wife settled for the eggs Benedict with bacon which was beautifully done and I chose the chicken wings. They were ok but a bit too dry and I certainly have had better ones in the past. The service was fine but it took a while for the food to arrive. In any case, we will go back. The bar area is a really cool place. Service: 4 Location: 4
